Prenatal massages are offered at a reduced rate in order to encourage mothers enjoy the truly wonderfull expierence of prenatal massage as often as possible.
Many
methods of massage are both effective and safe prenatally and
during labor and postpartum periods of women's pregnancies. The
therapeutic bodywork focuses on the special needs of the mother-to-be
as her body goes through dramatic changes of the childbirth experience.
Prenatally, specific techniques can reduce pregnancy discomforts and
concerns and enhance the physiological and emotional well-being of both
mother and fetus.
Touch is vital to the mother's physical and emotional
well-being as she
adapts to her new body image. Regardless of individual circumstances, a
pregnant woman's body is challenged, changed and stressed in many ways.
Prenatal/Pregnancy massage helps provide relaxation, relieve
stress on
weight-bearing joints (ankles, low back and pelvis), alleviate neck and
back pain caused by muscle imbalance and weakness, assist in
maintaining proper posture, assist in removal of unwanted fluids and
toxins to help in avoiding toxemia, and to prepare the birthing muscles
used during childbirth.
In the postpartum period, specialized techniques rebalanced structure,
physiology and emotions of the new mother. Also to help address stress
from sleeplessness and carrying and caring for a newborn.
If you have any conditions talk to your midwife or obstetrician about
whether prenatal massage would be a good option for you. It is not
recommended to get a massage in the first trimester.
