Therapeutic Deep Tissue Massage utilizes a firm and focused
pressure to affect the sub-layer of musculature and fascia. These
techniques require more advanced training and a more thorough
understanding of anatomy and physiology. The massage therapist
will take time before your appointment to get a clear understanding of
your problem areas and go over a basic treatment plan.
As pressure increases there is need for regular communication
between the Massage Therapist and the Client.
The goals of Deep Tissue Massage are to decrease spasms, restore
flexibility and range of motion, and relieve pain caused by toxicity
& trigger points (those tender knots in a muscle). The therapist
may even recommend stretches or exercises that will help relieve
tension.
Deep tissue massage helps with chronic muscular pain & injury
rehabilitation and reduces inflammation-related pain caused by
arthritis and tendonitis. It is generally integrated with other massage
techniques. Deep tissue massage help restructure the body and improve
posture. Deep tissue massage helps break up and eliminate scar tissue.
It helps with chronic muscular pain, injury rehabilitation and
inflammation-related pain. In addition, Deep Tissue can reduce the
development of adhesions and excessive scarring following surgery or
trauma.
The purpose of deep tissue massage is to "release" the fibers of the
muscle while letting go any deeply-held patterns of tension. It is both
corrective and therapeutic.
It is important to drink plenty of water after a deep tissue massage to
help eliminate toxins released from the body after the massage.
